A Brief Guide to Taiwan(國情概要)
1, Territory
Taiwan, the island measured about 394 kilometers long and 144 kilometers wide, is widely used to refer to the lands dominated by the Republic of China(ROC). In addition to the island of Taiwan , the Penghu in the island in the Pacific off eastern Taiwan, and Kinmen and Matsu islands off the coast of Fujian on Mainland China are also the parts of Taiwan
2,Terrain
Taiwan covers an area of approximately 36,000 square kilometers. Two-thirds of the total area is covered by mountains because of the continuous tectonic movements and thus make Taiwan geographically unique. As to the rest of the area, it consists of a variety of terrain, including plains, sandbars, hills, plateaus and basins. As a result, the country is home to abundant animals and plant life. there are about animals and plant life. there are about 18,400 species of wildlife on the island, with more than 20% being rare or endangered species. besides, Taiwan is the temporary shelter or large number of migratory birds from around the world as a result from the formation mud flats and mangroves along the cost.
3,Population
Taiwan has a population of 23 millions. The larger part of the country’s inhabitants is the descendants of immigrants from the various provinces of the mainland China, but in particular from the southeastern coastal provinces:Fujian and Guangdong. These people can be divided into Minnan and Hakka. The aboriginal inhabitants are into 14 tribes which only take up a small portion of population compared to immigrants from China. To date, the differences between people from different places can merely be seen for the different ethnic groups have fairly well integrated.
4,Climate
Taiwan enjoys warm weather all year round; the annual average temperature is comfortable 22 degree Celsius. Weather conditions fluctuate during spring and winter, while in summer and autumns the weather is relatively stable. Yet, typhoons sometimes approach or hit the country during summer time.
5,Religion
Taiwan is highly diversified in terms of religious belief, with the practice of Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Catholicism, Mormonism, the Unification Church, Islam, and Hinduism. For the most part , the traditional religions practiced in Taiwan are Buddhism, Taoism, and folk religions; except for small number of purely Buddhist temples , however , most of the island’s traditional places of worship combine all three traditions.
6,Feature
To preserve Taiwan’s natural ecological environment and cultural sites, the government has established 8 national parks and 13 national scenic areas. there are plenty of ways strongly recommended to appreciate the scenic spots while visiting ;for instance, trekking in the magnificence of the cliffs at Taroko Gorge; taking a ride on the Alishan Forest Railway and experiencing the breathtaking sunrise and sea of clouds; hiking up to the summit of Northeast Asia’s highest peak, Yu Mountain. You can also soak up the sun in Kenting; stand at the edge of Sun Moon Lake; wander through the East Rift Valley; or visit the offshore islands of Kinmen and Penghu.

總結一下：來台觀光客之人文特質出五題：法國、加拿大、西班牙、芬蘭風景名勝(含國家公園、觀光小城、地方特色)十題的分佈：
國家公園三題(阿里山森林遊樂區、、墾丁國家公園、太魯閣國家公園)
觀光小城二題(大溪老街、台北101，今年觀光局總共有10個觀光小城)
地方特色五題(紅毛城、中正紀念堂、故宮博物館、蘇花公路、平溪天燈)節慶美食出三題國際光點計劃出二題(北區、南區)比較需要臨場準備及反應的是國情概況，除了要對現在的觀光政策瞭解之外 也要對目前比較新的議題做準備。我抽到的是民宿，我就不知道他的英文簡稱是B&B，不過口試委員人真的很好，他用中文點了我一下，讓我能夠回應。
101年英文外語導遊口試實戰記錄
5月初很幸運的通過第一試的筆試後，接下來還有一個月準口外語口試
今年的考試方向在6月初就公告，包含「國情概況」、「風景名勝（含國家公園、觀光小城、地方特色等）」、「來臺觀光客之人文特質」、「國際光點計畫」及「節慶美食」
我的題目共四題：
1、自我介紹(背景、學經歷、興趣、報考動機)
2、介紹民宿
3、介紹大溪老街
4、介紹油桐花季
一看到差點傻眼，因為除了自我介紹外，其他都是我很少在準備的…
吸了一口氣後，淡定的想一下要怎麼說，讓自己的思路順一點！
今年的考試方向在6月初就公告，包含「國情概況」、「風景名勝（含國家公園、觀光小城、地方特色等）」、「來臺觀光客之人文特質」、「國際光點計畫」及「節慶美食」
我開始從行政院新聞局先做國情概況資訊的蒐集，包含人口、種族、政治等以英文的方式記下，其他的部份就比較好準備，建議大家還是要平常能練習英文口說，才不會準備起來那麼累。
其實觀光局的網站上資訊非常豐富，我在上面學到很多知識，及各國家公園的特色，把自己當做是第一次從國外來台灣的心態來準備，從看景觀、觀賞古蹟、瞭解當地文化、吃特色小吃等等來準備，我也找了外國朋友做練習，加強一些反應訓練，不然以過往其他人的考試經驗來看，考官會很隨意的問問題
6/2第一次去考試院，其實也是第一次參加國家考試
報到之後，可以在旁邊的休息區自息，不少人帶資料或電腦在讀，考區和休息區是分開的。
進到報到區之後就不能出來，除非去尿尿，接著就會有人一個一個帶去口試考場。
考試時間約15分，第一次會聲響是提醒還有2分鐘，第二次聲響代表結束。
在外面等待的時候，考試委員給我抽題，共10個題目，我抽到第6題，題目是中文，然後會有5分鐘的思考時間，時間一到就會收回。

4、介紹油桐花季

裡面坐了兩個口試委員，坐下後要報自己的號碼及姓名
接著就開始自我介紹…
自我介紹說到我做雲端產品，打斷說工作很好耶！怎麼會想來做導遊業?
接著我說我很愛旅遊，另一個口試委員就說你去過那些國家印象最深?
第二題開始我還聽不懂題目因為他簡稱民宿為B&B (Bed & Breakfast)
我就說民宿主人都很熱情、可以住到有特色的設計感的房間，更可感受當地民情
第三題開始我整個亂答，因為我只知道大溪老街要吃豆干
我就說大溪老街有一座很有特色的橋，走過去之後就是大溪老街，那邊可以吃一些特色小吃像是豆干等，附近還有慈湖可以逛。
第四題就最好笑，因為基本上我不知道油桐花季在幹嘛
我就說油桐花季在苗栗，那邊充滿客家的文化，油桐花很美，加上百花盛開，總是吸引很多人去玩。
可能是因為最後一題回答太短，口試委員就開始問其他的問題…
那請你說一下客家人的核心精神，也舉1到2到客家菜
客家菜果然問了…
我回答客家人很勤簡、文化很有特色
客家菜就不知道說什麼，就說有封肉，但不會講，講成豬腳，口試委員還一直笑，直接說你說的是屏東豬腳吧…我開始硬拗說有客家豬腳，說到這邊就聲響，口試委員就說謝謝你。
接下來就等成績出來吧！
